Axarquia alone (coast between Malaga to Nerja), for example, has around 250 ferias, festivals, fiestas and romerias each year.

This represents about 1000 days of festivities per year.

There are many religious fiestas, the fabulous Semana Santa (holy week) in Velez Malaga being the one not to be missed.

The romerias are also a way to immerse yourself in the local culture. The romeria in Nerja is really beautiful.
