A few words about Alfarnate

Alfarnate is a beautiful white village in Axarquia, in the province of Malaga.

This festival is called in different ways: “Fiesta de los moros y cristianos” (Moors and Christians festival), Fiesta de la Embajada, Fiesta de Ntra Sra de Monsalud, Fiestas patronales de Alfarnate.

Dates of the Embajada Festival in Alfarnate

The festival will take place from 11 to 14 September 2025.

This festival relates a historical fact of the village found in a book. It tells of the theft of the Virgin of Monsalud by the Moors.

---

---

After the failure of negotiations to recover it, the Christians asked the Virgin for protection before confronting the Moors and winning the battle to recover it.

---

The festival lasts for four days. Sunday is exceptional with the Embajada show followed by the incredible procession of Ntra Sra Virgen de Monsalud.

Personally, this is one of my favourite festivals.
