Origin of the romeria :

The word “romeria” comes from “romero”. It is the name given to the pilgrims who went to Rome almost 2000 years ago. Romerias, which are very typical in Andalucia, therefore have very ancient origins. Here are a few photos :

The festivities of the Romeria de San Antonio in Torrox will be held from 13 to 15 June 2025.

The programme will begin on Friday evening at the Caseta de Juventud at 10:30pm.

On Sunday, the Romeria San Antonio will take place. At around 3 pm, a paella will be served, followed by shows and a carrera de cintas on horseback.

Afterwards, a dance show will take place at 8.00 pm in the Plaza de San Antonio. The romeria will end at 8 pm at the church.

In the evening a concert will be given from 9 pm, ending with a fireworks display.
