4 fabulous scuba diving sites in Andalusia


Note: Possible meeting points: we can meet at the dive centre in Mijas, or pick you up anywhere along the coast if it’s on the way to the dive site.

Each dive lasts between 45 minutes and just over an hour.


1. Marbella: dive on the historic remains of La Torre del Cable (the Tower)


Located just a few minutes from the shore, the La Torre site is one of the most iconic on the Costa del Sol.

A former remnant of a mining cable car that transported iron ore to the sea, this submerged structure has now become a veritable artificial reef.


At a depth of around 10 metres, divers can observe:


  • Conger eels and moray eels hidden in the pillars
  • Groupers swimming around the metal structures
  • A small wreck resting on the sand
  • Spotted electric rays

Suitable for all levels, this dive combines industrial history with marine biodiversity.

2. San Pedro de Alcántara: a Spanish wreck dating back nearly 300 years


San Pedro de Alcántara is home to one of the region’s most fascinating historical dive sites. El Galeón, a Spanish military galleon, was deliberately sunk nearly three centuries ago.

Even today, divers occasionally discover relics from the past, such as bronze buttons or belt buckles.


At a depth of just 7 metres, the wreck is ideal for:

Cuttlefish, octopuses, rays and conger eels have turned this ship into a veritable natural sanctuary.

3. Gibraltar: the realm of wrecks


Few divers know that Gibraltar is home to more than 35 wrecks accessible to divers. The centre is one of the few Spanish dive centres authorised to organise trips there.

Camp Bay: a huge artificial reef


The site features several remarkable wrecks:


The 482M and Batty’s Barge

These two former Royal Navy barges offer fascinating interior spaces to explore.


You can spot:

The Spanish Barges

Four small wrecks connected by passageways and open holds.

The Ark of Jesus Christ

4. Marina del Este: Andalusia’s marine gem


Located east of Málaga, Marina del Este is considered by many divers to be one of the most beautiful dive sites in Spain.

Designated a marine nature reserve in 2025, it offers spectacular underwater landscapes.
