A few words about Cordoba
Cordoba was founded by the Romans 2200 years ago. However, it was during the Caliphate period that it really shone. During the Caliphate period, in the 10th century, it became the richest and most populous city in Europe. This multi-millennial history offers many monuments to visit in Cordoba.

During the festival, you can also take the opportunity to discover Cordoba’s fabulous Juderia – Jewish – quarter. You can enter through the Puerta de Almodovar.

A few words about the patios of Cordoba
There are a great many courtyards in Cordoba. The San Basilio district is particularly renowned for the beauty of its patios.

In 2012, UNESCO declared Cordoba’s courtyards to be part of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The patios date back thousands of years, to Roman times, and were preserved under al-Andalus.
Their origins are as curious as they are ancient. Patio flowerpots were originally used to hide deteriorating walls, latrines or wells.

It is customary to leave a few coins after visiting a patio. This money is collected by the association and its members, who maintain the patios throughout the year.
