A few words about this hike in Axarquia, the east of Malaga
The Fabrica de la Luz hike is a very beautiful hike in the province of Málaga, in Axarquia. It is a medium level hike. It is not circular, so you can turn around at any time. The walk is partly along a river.
This hike is quite rare in Andalucia as it takes place in the forest of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park. A protected natural park of more than 40,000 hectares shared between the province of Malaga and the province of Granada.
Equipment for the hike
There is no need for special equipment. However, with walking sticks the hike is always easier.
The hike can be done with teenagers, who enjoy walking. There is no particular danger.
Starting point of this hike Fabrica de la Luz in east of Malaga
The hike is located in the municipality of Canillas de Albaida. To get there, you have to take the road next to the Ermita de Santa Ana by car.
After 3 or 4 km you arrive at the old Fabrica de la luz, where you can park your car. Electricity used to be produced here thanks to the river. You can walk along the river for a while during the hike.

This hike offers magnificent views of the mountains of the Sierra de Almijara.
The passage next to the river is beautiful.
This can be a great place for a picnic in a cool place in summer.

We take a small backpack with food and drink, as well as a bag to keep all the rubbish in order not to leave anything in nature.
