This is a show that the guide suggests you discover: the blossom of almond trees and the famous terraced crops in the Axarquia mountains.
The landscapes are magnificent, and among the most beautiful in Axarquia, with almond trees in full bloom, all white on the mountainside.
It is also an opportunity to discover the origins of this crop and what the harvested almonds are used for (for example to produce the famous local drink: el ajoblanco).
How does this day tour work?
This tour is carried out in semi-private groups (2 to 8 people maximum) departing from Nerja, Torre del Mar and Torrox.
The guide Cipriano – pictured below – will pick you up in the morning at your place of stay in a Mercedes Vito and drive you to the Almond blossom Route.
The details of this Almond blossom Tour
On the Almond Blossom Route, we will stop to walk through the almond fields.
You will discover several varieties of almond trees and learn about the culture and traditions surrounding this tree, which is the first to bloom.
Then we will visit a beautiful hamlet, Daimalos.
You will see an Arab fountain from the Al-Andalus period. You will discover through a legend all the virtues for the one who will drink its water!
In the centre of the hamlet you can see the alminar (minaret), which is one of the oldest in Spain. It dates from the 12th century.
At lunch time, Cipriano will take you to a typical restaurant for lunch.
At the end of the tour, the guide will drop you off at your accommodation.
