The candelarias in Frigiliana will be celebrated in 2022 on the 10th of September.

---

Originally, the candelarias were a celebration during which large bonfires were made in the fields and in the various districts of towns and villages. Today, for safety reasons, there are no more fires. We organize an evening where this 19th century tradition is remembered through songs that are passed down from generation to generation. It also became the occasion to celebrate the end of summer.

This evening in Frigiliana is a way of living to the rhythm of the traditional, popular, and typical festivities of Axarquia – Costa del Sol .
